The Putnam Veterans Advisory Committee is a recognized 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting veterans and their dependents by providing information, coordinating access to resources, and assisting with programs that promote employment, education, rehabilitation, and successful transition to civilian life. We work collaboratively with community partners to identify needs and improve services for veterans.
The Committee was formally established by Town Ordinance in 2020 to advise the Town of Putnam on all matters affecting veterans. The Committee works directly with the Mayor and advises the Board of Selectmen on veteran-related issues within the community.
The Committee is composed of seven veteran members who are residents of Putnam, Connecticut, with the goal of representing as many local veteran-serving organizations as possible. This structure promotes coordination, communication, and mutual support among veteran organizations throughout the town.
The Mayor and the Director of Parks and Recreation serve as ex officio members of the Committee, ensuring alignment with official Town functions and supporting the planning and coordination of town-wide veteran events and initiatives.
The Putnam Veterans Advisory Committee is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. While it was established to advise the Town of Putnam on veterans’ issues, it operates as a separate nonprofit entity and is not a department of the Town.
